Meet Anurag on LinkedIn >How it all began
Our story began with Roma’s students. Starting in 2008, she worked with children who struggled with reading and spelling, including children with dyslexia and attention difficulties. She wanted visual cards that gave them something concrete to remember when a word such as “does” felt difficult.
Roma began drawing picture cues on a whiteboard during lessons, noticing which ideas connected with the children. In 2011, she decided to turn those classroom drawings into cards that other parents, teachers and tutors could use too.
The goal was a clean, simple picture cue that connected a word’s meaning with its reading and spelling. That idea became Picture Sight Words™.
Picture Homophones™ followed, using pictures to help children distinguish words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings. Short vowel workbooks, sight word storybooks and other reading resources grew from the same desire to make language learning approachable and enjoyable.
In 2016, Roma also began creating inspirational children’s books—stories intended to touch children’s hearts as well as encourage their learning.
